Shleppers Supports the Westchester 2009 JCC Maccabi Games as Sponsor and Official MoverIn addition to sponsorship, New York's top mover donates time, trucks and teamwork to JCC Maccabi Games Westchester in August 2009.Scarsdale, NY (PRWEB) July 9, 2009 The Westchester 2009 JCC Maccabi Games(R) is an Olympic-style event which takes place at a multitude of venues throughout Westchester County, posing a welcome logistical challenge to Shleppers Moving & Storage as the event's Official Mover. The JCC Maccabi Games will welcome over 1,800 local and international Jewish athletes (from the ages of 12 to 16) to Westchester, New York, in delegations from across the United States, Canada, Israel, and Venezuela for athletic competition, socializing, and community service. The JCC Maccabi Games take place in different JCC host cities across the U.S. each year, and for the event's first appearance in Westchester, Shleppers is participating as a proud sponsor as well as Official Mover for the event, providing logistical support, transport, manpower, and more. In its support of the JCC Maccabi Games, Shleppers and its personnel will be assisting with the transportation of equipment and supplies, as well as with the setup and breakdown of equipment for staging the events at The JCC of Mid-Westchester (located on the Scarsdale-New Rochelle border), The Rosenthal JCC of Northern Westchester (located in Pleasantville), and at the 20 other locations around Westchester for the Games. Thanks to the donation by Shleppers, the JCC Maccabi Games will be able to efficiently transport equipment and supplies despite the challenges of multiple locations and events. The games will feature over 2,000 participants including over 1,400 visiting athletes, 400 local athletes, and 300 coaches. "We are excited to have Shleppers serve as the Official Mover of the Westchester 2009 JCC Maccabi Games," remarks Neil Forster, Assistant Executive Director of the JCC of Mid-Westchester. "Shleppers' commitment to our community is outstanding. We look forward to their participation in making the Games a success." Shleppers decided to participate in this year's JCC Maccabi Games through the efforts of the UJA Westchester Business and Profession Division's Maccabi subcommittee, chaired by Jamie Schwartz and Ron Klausner. Jason Friedland, the President of Shleppers Moving & Storage, is also a board member, and felt that the event posed a perfect opportunity for Shleppers to continue its involvement in the community around them. "Participation in sports is such an important outlet that can give children a foundation to build upon for the rest of their lives for health, well-being, teamwork, and the pursuit of excellence," comments Friedland. "The JCC Maccabi Games truly exemplify all these qualities. In our donation of moving and logistical services to the Games as its official mover, our hope is that this will allow other money that's raised to be spent where it can do the most good for the children, and the Games." The JCC Maccabi Games are just the latest example of sponsorship and services donation for Shleppers, which also donated similar support to the Westchester March of Dimes March for Babies Walk in April 2009 as well as for the Memorial Sloan-Kettering River Walk in June 2009. "At Shleppers, we're fortunate to be able to offer the trucks, resources, personnel and expertise to events like this," adds Friedland, "as part of the communities in which we live and work. With its main offices in Manhattan, Shleppers expanded into Westchester County in 2007 with the opening of additional offices in Yonkers, New York. The company's charitable and community commitments include both the Manhattan and Westchester communities on an ongoing basis, and have included, in addition to the JCC Maccabi Games, such organizations as The Central Park Conservancy, The Bottomless Closet, Catholic Charities, The March of Dimes March for Babies, Memorial Sloan-Kettering, The Community Mayors Foundation, The Foodbank of New York, and many more.
